but never state that all men 

                       are treated the same

 

am called asian-american,

a reference to my roots even though

 

the documents say i’m american

        just                            american

 

              my black hair 

                           slanted eyes

 

traits that don’t compromise

my american identity

 

                                      call me american

                                      call me my identity

 

xenophobia is a fancy word for hate

i’ve given up my korean identity,

 my language is foreign to my tongue

                           raised in this country

        

       i am not a foreigner.

 

this place should be home

we could make this place home

 

                              right?
